"Harvard divinity professor Karen King unveiled the 4th-Century Coptic script at a conference in Rome. She said researchers had identified the words "Jesus said to them, 'my wife'", which might refer to Mary Magdalene. Christian tradition holds that Jesus did not marry - but Ms King said in early years it was subject to debate." www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-19645273I reserve judgment.

The text in no way indicates that his wife was mary magdeline. May as well say "it might be a girl called Sarah" because the text doesnt say that either.
Pretty interesting tho'.

The Gospel of Thomas clairified this long ago, unfortunately most (not all) Christians reject the Gnostic Gospels, for reasons that are very clear to me; The Gospels can easily be taken out of context. I know there are some here who do believe and are still open minded to the Gnostic Gospels because it clearly recognizes Jesus as the Christ.

The Gospel of St. Thomas also quotes Jesus as saying it was his intention to cause war and disharmony.
You have to be careful believing anything that is written by man, period.

Why do you think that is? I think he was actually the false prophet he warned of...that people look at his texts and try to read more into it than what is there...yes, there are parables, but there are many things in the Bible, and the gnostic texts that are very blatant. There's not a spiritual or hidden meaning for everything Jesus talked about. There was a lot he was pretty straight up about.

I've read the gospel of thomas several times and don't recall any reference to him having a wife. Someone who was not Mary M. asked him if he mounted her bed. I think it was actually the woman that ordered John Baptists head on a plate no?
Im not sure what you mean by that LL, but I believe that Jesus warning of the false prophet was of the present day interpretation and conventional understanding of the gospel...that his words would be twisted into a false christ. I also believe that all the major religions, christianity being one of them are also "the church that gives the beast its streangth", spoken about in revelation by apostle John.

good for him i say, and yes, he had his wife. Back then they used the word "companion" instead of hub/wif. His blood spread all over in France and Italy and over into the new world.

It was actually the Gospel of Phillip : “There were three who always walked with the Lord: Mary his mother and her sister and Magdalene, the one who was called his companion”
I have no doubt in my heart that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were married.
